چکیده

The ability to restore perceived colors for the output of color imaging devices is of great interest. The quality of color reproduction depends on the accuracy of the color correction function used, on the recording and rendering illumination as well as on the spectral sensitivies of the color imaging device used. Much work has been done to develop and evaluate the quality of different color correction functions under different illuminations. In this paper we present a new figure of merit (FOM) for the color reproduction ability of color imaging devices. This FOM overcomes the limitations of previously presented FOM in that its error measure is defined in the percetually uniform CIELab color space, it takes account for recording noise and it is independent on the color correction function used. We can calculate a measure of uncertainty with respect to the perceived colors that might have led to this sensors response. Spectral Estimation of Printed Colors Using a Scanner, Conventional Color Filters and applying backpropagation Neural Network

Reconstruction the spectral data of color samples using conventional color devices such as a digital camera or scanner is always of interest. Nowadays, multispectral imaging has introduced a feasible method to estimate the spectral reflectance of the images utilizing more than three-channel imaging. The goal of this study is to spectrally characterize a color scanner using a set of conventional...

New Figure of Merit for Color Reproduction Ability of Color Imaging Devices using the Metameric Boundary Descriptor

A measure for the color reproduction ability of a color imaging device is important for comparison purposes as well as for the sensor design process. Several figures of merit which describe this ability in a single measure have been proposed in the past. All these measures have shortcomings in that their error measure is defined in a non-representative color space for human color perception, or...

The Use of a Selective Database Technique in Order to Recover the Spectra of a Series of Acrylic Paints by the Principle Component Analysis

A procedure for an efficient recovering of reflectance spectra of Acrylic paint samples from CIE tristimulus color values is described. By fixing a certain criteria based on color difference value, the proposed technique preliminarily selects a series of suitable samples from a main dataset containing the reflectance values of a series of different Acrylic paint samples, based on the color ...

Optimum spectral sensitivity functions for single sensor color imaging

A cost-effective and convenient approach for color imaging is to use a single sensor and mount a color filter array (CFA) in front of it, such that at each spatial position the scene information in only one color channel is captured. To estimate the missing colors at each pixel, a demosaicing algorithm is applied to the CFA samples. Besides the filter arrangement and the demosaicing method, the...

Basis Functions of the Color Signal of Skin under Different Illuminants

The skin color signal is the product of skin reflectances and spectral power distribution of illuminants. In this paper we use principal component analysis to obtain basis functions for an ensemble of skin color signals and test the reconstruction goodness with different number of basis functions and types of normalization. We demonstrate the usefulness of the basis functions in two application...
